Global Development Journalism

  1. Globalisation puts us in direct relationship with people in other parts of our common planet, so GDJ puts emphasis on global interconnections (having so called global, not only foreign outlook, epistemological level).

  2. Thematically reflects increasing need to cover (sustainable) development and humanitarian issues.

  3. Ethically emphasises unbalanced power structures and relations within society (locally, globally as well as “glocally”), gives voice to those without power, to those who are not heard within these unbalanced relations.

  4. Analytically builds on critical discourse analysis and media framing analysis, in order to enable journalists to step out of dominant discourse(s) – transformative element, ability to change frames of reference, see the world through others´ eyes.

And by all that it aims to contribute to positive social change.
